WHAT IS THE NAVY LEAGUE OF CANADA?
A non-profit, charitable organization, the Navy League of Canada supports Canada’s youth with two separate programs supported by its local Navy League Branch: Navy League Cadets, for youth aged 9 to 12, and the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps, for youth aged 12 to 18, which is delivered in partnership with the Department of National Defence (DND).
The Brampton Branch of the Navy League of Canada is a parent-led volunteer group that helps to raise funds so that our RCSCC-139 Illustrious Cadets have access to fun & fulfilling activities and events.
There is no cost for Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps membership, uniforms, or training materials. However, Cadets and their parents are expected to participate in fundraising activities to support any extras not provided by the Government of Canada. Fun activities and events point our Cadets in the right direction…
Parents are ALWAYS welcome to join the Navy League! The more hands we have on deck; the more our Cadets will benefit!
HOW DOES THE NAVY LEAGUE SUPPORT OUR CADETS?
• Providing programs and non-training related activities takes a substantial amount of time, effort, and fundraising. The Navy League assists with these things.
• Our fundraising helps with expenses that can range from activity costs like year-end celebrations, Mess Dinners, meals over and above MREs on excursions, buses & transportation, website fees, sporting equipment to support our teams, band instruments, permit fees, and other fun activities.
HOW CAN PARENTS HELP AT NAVY LEAGUE?
FUNDRAISING
Cadets participate in tagging campaigns & other ways to raise funds. Navy League helps coordinate & assist Cadets in fundraising. If you excel at fundraising, we could use your help!
VOLUNTEERING AT EVENTS
Navy League volunteers (Vulnerable Sector Screened) are crucial for many events to run smoothly, this could mean driving Cadets to tagging shifts or Poppy Campaigns, serving at a Mess Dinner and helping where needed!
BEHIND THE SCENES
Lots of coordination goes on behind the scenes like administrative work, purchasing items, and event planning! If you can lend a hand, we’d love your help!
DONATE
Monetary donations are always appreciated and are used locally! Tax receipts can be issued for donations over $25. E-transfers may be sent to: [email protected].
