Sailing at CNS Barrie 14-15 Sep 2024

  • Sail Training is important as it provides Sea Cadets with a safe on-water training and learning opportunity in a nautical environment.
  • Cadets typically participate in both days (Sat/Sun) and need to be dropped off / picked up at the Armoury each day.
  • Safety First! All cadets participating in sailing are provided with an approved PFD (Personal Flotation Device) and helmet and are closely supervised.

Transportation:  Bussing is provided from the Armoury (12 Chapel St, Brampton) to Training Location and return each day.

  • Parent Drop-Off at Armoury (Depart): 0630 hrs (6:30am)
  • Parent Pick-Up at Armoury (Return): 1730 hrs (5:30pm)
    • Please watch for return time updates on website announcements.
    • Parental Consent Form (signed) and Health Card is required to board the bus.

Training Location:  CNS Barrie (Cadet Nautical Site), 9A Simcoe St, Barrie, ON

Meals:

  • Cadets are provided with lunch each day (Subway Meal).
  • Cadets to eat breakfast prior to drop-off at Armoury each morning.
  • Cadets may bring snacks (Nut / Allergy Free Snacks Only).

 

Kit / Clothing:  All to bring civilian clothing suitable for on-water activities

  • Kit List – Bring items in a backpack with kit for on-water activities
    • Closed toed shoes only
      • Crocks with closed toe in sport mode are acceptable
      • Close toe water shoes are acceptable
      • No sandals / flip-flops / no open footwear
    • Sunscreen
    • Hat
    • Sailing gloves are optional
    • Glasses / Sunglasses
      • Safety strap to secure glasses
    • Change of dry clothes
    • Be prepared for rain or cool weather – bring a jacket
    • Other
  • Health Card – Cadets must bring their Health Card
  • Refillable water bottle – Filled
  • CNS Barrie will provide a PFD (Personal Flotation Device) and Helmet
    • For safety, wearing a PFD and Helmet is mandatory
    • Hair is to be tied back to wear helmet
